The Friends of Garston Park group began in 2009. When we began this group, we set out our aims and objectives. As of 2017, we can proudly say that we have been consistently able to…
* Contribute to the maintenance of the park and make improvements based on the wishes of the group members and landowners.
* Protect the park for users and residents.
* Involve residents, users and workers in the improvements and changes within the park.
The park is well used by lots of individuals from all walks of life. There is something for everyone here, the swing park is very popular with families and the large field is popular with sports teams and dog walkers. People come here to use the exercise equipment and use the park as a place to run.
People also come to sit and relax or have a picnic with friends and family, to take some time out from their busy lives. We know that the park is important to the community and is a valuable resource for people from the area and further afield. As a group, we want to help to keep the park in the best condition possible and make improvements that will benefit the community where we can.
We organise litter picks, bulb and flower planting, maintenance of the planters, flowerbeds and the wildflowers throughout the park, and we also play an active role in the Summer Fun Day that takes place on the park every year. We’re friendly, open and approachable and we welcome help, support and suggestions from everyone. Please feel free to get in touch today.
